HKUST BDI receives a delegation from Ministry of Education of The People’s Republic of ChinaA delegation from the Ministry of Education of The People’s Republic of China (PRC) visited the HKUST Big Data Institute (BDI) laboratory during its half day visit to the university on 30 May 2018.
The guests included Mr Zhanyuan DU, Vice Minister of Education; Mr Chaozi LEI, Director-General of Department for Science and Technology; Mr Jun LI, Director of the Research Office; Mr Fangshu LUO, Director of Science and Technology Development Center; Ms Lulu TIAN, Deputy Director of Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs; and Mr Shuanglin XIONG, Researcher of the General Office.
During the short visit to BDI, Prof Kai CHEN, Director of WeChat-HKUST Joint Lab on Artificial Intelligence Technology (WHAT Lab) introduced the Institute in general to the delegation, as well as three core areas of the WHAT Lab (Machine Reading System, Conversation System, Visualization System and Large Scale of Machine Learning Acceleration System) with some simple demo videos.
